Personalized Learning Made Manageable
May 8-9, 2019, 9am-3pm
National Louis University
A followup session will take place at the AIMS Summer Splash on June 18th. Workshop attendees receive half-off registration to this summertime learning event!
Personalized learning within a mastery framework has historically been difficult to implement. Delivering content, monitoring student progress, and grading can quickly become overwhelming and undermine the success of a competency-based approach. This 2-Day Workshop will provide participants with an understanding of how to develop and implement personalized learning in their classrooms using learner-paced Mastery Grids. The incorporation of the GRID Method framework, best practice strategies, and scaffolding using Webb’s DOK, create opportunities to make this kind of learning manageable for a progressive, 21st century educator.
Learn, Design, Apply
The Teach Better Team will discuss strategies for using instructional technology to monitor student progress, facilitate student movement and intervention, and implement formative and summative assessments. Templates, access to online resources, as well as continued support after the session will be provided to all participants. Following the 2-Day Workshop, teachers will have a student ready unit utilizing the personalized learning principals.
Day 1: Mastery Grid Development.
Participants will be led through the creation of Mastery Grids from State Standards. (Standard > Targets > Mastery Questions > Learning Opportunities > Assessments > Organizing The Grid using Webb’s DOK)
