Remote Teaching Strategies

  • Real life applications to content: interview a family member as a writing assignment
  • Use of Realia: Sequencing lessons and having them actually model themselves making the torta (sandwich) using the steps they wrote down.  They can access themselves to see if they were happy with their finished product or what would they change if they aren’t.
  • Use of choice boards (huge…as long as students can show that they can do your intended outcome, who cares how they do it)
  • Use of fist to five during live lessons to access
  • Collaborative project: students collaborating and creating a slideshow presentation using google or microsoft
  • Use of portfolios and goal setting for students to stay motivated and aware of their progress/setting goals
  • Mastery Learning: using the GRID method inside of your remote classroom setting (I also attached the latest GRID I have been working on for you to see how I incorporated the language domains into each task…this is not finished yet)

  • Relationship building activities
  • Use of graphic organizers (can use them digitally and students can write in them).  Check out Thinking Map

  • Have students create classroom norms to establish environment
  • Drag and drop activities…you can assign this with a partner on google slides/powerpoint
